We find ourselves in a time where human actions appear to be creating change at a geological level. How do we humans humble ourselves to this existential condition?

Scott Henstrand is a climate activist, an urban farmer, a woodworker/artist and a reformed science educator.

His work focuses on finding ways to break down the all too human hubris that we, of all the species, are the culmination of evolution, separating ourselves from the Critical Zone as the master. How do we begin to land back on Earth? As a teacher, Scott worked with students to try to understand notions of freedom and, through Big History, struggle with our continued exploitation of all the agents of the Critical Zones, including humans.

Along with his artwork, Scott is exploring possible pedagogies for immersion in the Critical Zone.
